Put It In The Calendar

Sandy was ready to get back to work.  She'd never really considered what came after having a baby and getting married. But, there were so many dirty bottles, messy diapers, and Random was busy with work and getting the clubhouse up and running.  If she thought they had little time together before, it was even worse now!

She wasn't happy.

Random hadn't really thought past getting married and having a baby.  They hadn't even bothered to interview any nanny's.  So, they decided he'd stay home until they could make other arrangements.
He wondered how many days he could string together calling in sick before his boss caught on and fired him.
Staying home had it's benefits.  He was getting pretty good at darts.
It had some drawbacks, too.

Random had burped him and rocked him.  He couldn't figure out why Buddy was wailing!

Plus, the mess was driving him crazy. Dirty bottles and diapers were everywhere.  It felt never-ending!  This kid was a drinking and pooping machine!

Random felt no shame in taking a mid-afternoon nap.  He was exhausted!

"Hey Danielle," he answered, glad it wasn't the mysterious heavy breather.

"Hey you, how's married life treating you?" she asked. He heard the sound of a can being opened and heard her plop into her recliner.

"Good!" he said quickly. "Actually, we've been really busy with the baby and everything."

He heard her take a long chug before she quipped "Guess the honeymoon's over!"

Random paced the livingroom. "No, we're good. Just going through a dry spell."

"Random," she said, all of a sudden serious, then hesitating and falling quiet.  "Nothing, nevermind," she finished.

"What?" he pressed.

"No, it's nothing."

But Random could tell there was something on her mind.  "Tell me," he needled.

"Sorry, I need to go get ready. Hot date tonight.  I'll talk to you laters," she told him, brushing him off.  It was almost like she was hurrying to get off the phone with him.

"Yeah, okay, don't do anything I wouldn't do!"

Danielle laughed. "So... no holds barred?"

"Knock him dead, girl!"

Random felt uneasy the rest of the afternoon, a niggling feeling in the pit of his stomach.  While Buddy slept, he flicked through the channels, not really watching anything.

His gaze shot up when his wife came in.  "Hey, how was work?' he asked.

Sandy just shrugged, flicking her keys down on the tv stand.

"Whoa, what's up with the attitude?" Random asked.

"Nothing, I'm just tired," she said peevishly. "Long day working," she told him.  "Not everyone gets to sit at home all day," she added snidely.

"Hey, we discussed that and decided it made more sense for you to work since you made more money than I do," he reminded her.

"Look, I don't want to fight. I'm tired. I'm going to lay down."  Sandy headed to the bedroom and firmly shut the door.

"Wow, maybe the honeymoon is over."

Forget this!  Random grabbed his keys and stormed outside.  He wasn't going to just sit in the living room and wait.  He had a business to run!
Quick check to make sure all the flamingos were standing and he was ready to open the doors.
As people strolled by, he would try to convince them to head in and check out the place.

There were a few takers.

Random slid into bed around 3 am, trying not wake up Sandy.  She shifted and glanced over her shoulder at him.  "I'm sorry," she told him quietly.

"Me too," Random told her sleepily and squeezed her hip.  "Shhh... sleep."

"Poor Roux, Mama doesn't give you as much attention anymore," Sandy cooed, rocking her sweet kitty.  She'd meant to adopt another cat for Roux to play with and hopefully breed.  Maybe now that she had some free time she could do that.
Since she'd been feeling so worn out from all their life changes, Sandy had arranged to take a short maternity leave to stay home with Buddy.

First thing she needed to take care of was to find the source of those disgusting roaches!

She called the exterminator and marked down the appointment on the calendar. Tired of arguing about their work schedules, Buddy had hung up the calendar by the phone. If they made an appointment, they were supposed to put it in the calendar. Of course, not everything got marked down.

Humming, she headed outside and enjoyed the breezy, slightly nippy spring weather while she gardened.  The lawn was looking a mess!

Drat, she was hoping to meet the exterminator, but he finished the job and hurried away, not even pausing when she called out that she had a tip.  Maybe he had headphones on.

"Have a good day, Babe,"  Random called out as he passed her by on his way to the carpool.  "See you tonight."

"Bye," she called out.

Calendar appointment: 10 am - 4 pm, Random @ work
Calendar appointment: 10:30 am - 3 pm, appt with Sinjin.
Since renewing her affair with Sinjin, her mood had improved dramatically.  She was starting to think maybe she'd made a mistake getting married so soon.

OMG! OMG! DON'T GO INSIDE RANDOM.  I'm pretty sure I saw some bills by the mailbox. Why don't you go and check that.

"WTF!"

Random would never be able to un-see that.
"Get off, Sin!" Sandy hissed, shoving him aside and trying to straighten her clothes.
"It's not what it looks like," she said hurriedly, stalling as she tried to think up a plausible story.

Sinjin looked way too happy with the situation.

"WTF, Sandy!" Random repeated, unable to form a coherent sentence.   No, he had one.  "How long has this been going on?" he demanded.

"Not long," Sandy said defensively at the same time Sinjin said "Months."

Random glared at the guy. Seriously, he looked way too furking smug!  "Sandy, get him out of my face."

"Sin, shut up," she hissed.  "Look, let's sit down and talk about this reasonably," she told him.

"Reasonably?" he echoed. "REASONABLY? WTF SANDY!"

"Quit shouting at me!" she yelled.

"Oh, the yelling hasn't even begun," he countered cooly. Shaking his head, he stopped and held up his palms. "No, you know what. I'm done," he told her.

"Done?" she asked nervously.

"Done with this conversation. Done with you. Done!" he snapped. "Pack your things and get the hell out!"
"Come on Sandy, let's go," Sinjin urged, wrapping an arm protectively around her waist.
"I'll be back for my stuff!" she shot out on their way out.  "I'm taking everything!" she seethed angrily.

Random was shaking when he headed into the nursery and rocked Buddy in his arms.  She could have all their stuff, he didn't care. But, she wasn't taking the most important thing.

*AN: So full disclosure, Sandy was going to run off with Sinjin soon anyways.  Lol.  I was so tired of playing my poor pleasure-loving Random as the responsible partner. They never saw each other and were always tired when the other got home from work.

And then Random got the chance card and got that promotion!  Oh man, bad timing!  Or perfect timing.  Run free Random! Run free! 💗
