Sandy was up before the sun rose. "Good morning Roux," she said softly, petting the feline's head. Roux nudged her face against her leg and purred loudly. "Let's make sure you have some food in your bowl."
A quick breakfast and she was out the door, ready for work.
It was sometime after 10 am that Random finally woke up, exhausted from his late night at work. Closing shift sucked. Padding down the hall to the bathroom, he did a quick sniff check to see if he needed to shower.
Oh yeah, definitely needed a shower. He jumped out of the shower when he heard the phone ringing. "I'm coming!" he called, hastily throwing some clothes on and rushing to the kitchen. "Hello?" he answered quickly when he picked up the receiver. "Hello?" No answer and then a quick hang up.
Weird.Despite his misgivings, Roux was growing on Random. She sure was fun to play with. Another cool thing about Sandy moving in was she brought some dough with her.
KA-CHING!
He'd been stoked when she bought him the BOB 2349 that he'd been eyeing. His baby was the bomb!
Roux ran outside to play with Kobe, the stray cat. Oooo... I see kitties in my future!
"Hey Babe, how was work?" Random asked as he whipped up a quick grilled cheese before heading to work.
"Long and boring," Sandy told him, grabbing a dirty dish from the table and putting it in the sink. "When do you get off tonight?" she asked.
"It'll be a late night," Random reminded her.
Sandy pouted prettily. "We never get to spend time together!"
"Soon," Random promised as he headed out the door. "I've got some time coming up. We should plan something fun!"
Sandy was so bored, she could scream. She glanced up at the phone and thought about calling Sinjin to invite him over. I mean, they were friends, weren't they?
But, just as she stood up to grab the phone, she heard the garbage cans clatter outside.
"Oh, you poor little kitty," Sandy cooed. "Did that big, mean trash can scare you?" Gently, she stroked the kitty's head, trying to make friends.
Derp. Proof of Army of Flamingos and the Guardian Gnome!
Sandy was sure she was close to forming a bond with little Kobe and envisioning the most adorable little kitties. But, when she lifted the cat up to hug and kiss her. she realized Kobe wasn't a Tom Cat, he was a SHE-CAT!
Her hopes for a kitty litter plummeted.
Kobe batted her in the face with a startled yelp, wrestled out of her arms and then ran off into the night.
A hungry cat was still a hungry cat. She set a bowl of kitty kibble outside in case the stray cat needed a snack.
She wasn't sure when Random came home, but when Sandy woke up, he was snuggled against her. She squirmed, unable to fall asleep, threw off the blanket and finally sighed with frustration.
"Random, are you awake?" she asked softly, then a little bit more loudly "Random?"
"Huh?" Random asked, his voice thick with sleep. He reached out with his eyes closed and pulled her over into his arms. "Shhh... sleep."
"I can't sleep," she whispered quietly. "Wanna fool around?"
Random decided he was awake enough.
The couples conflicting schedules meant Random had some time to catch up with friends. He invited Lyndsay and Danielle over to hang out and dish about work. They both brought over a friend.
WTH Jill. Everyone can see you!
Despite the fact that everyone was watching and yelling at her, poking their fingers in her direction, Jill stole the fricking gnome. Some Guardian of the Flamingos!
To add insult to injury, she immediately came over and tried to make nice with Random. "Hi, nice place you have here," the friend of a friend said sweetly.
"It'd be nicer if you hadn't just stolen my lawn ornament!"
He and Danielle bonded, making fun of Jill.
Before he heads out the door to work, Rose Dai pulls him aside and tells him that his boss is her friend and she'll put in a good word for a promotion.
"Cool! That's awesome!" he told her, pumping her hand in thanks.
KA-CHING!
Sandy threw an impromptu congratulatory party and invited a few friends and co-workers over. It wasn't every day that a girl earned a cool 15k from selling a rare artifact.
"... And so, to make it short and sweet," Sandy finally brought her speech to a close. "Congratulations to me!"
Everyone clinked glasses and then drank their bubbly champagne. "Drink up! There's more of that where it came from!" Sandy called wildly, pouring herself another glass to the amusement of her friends.
A few glasses in and Sandy was feeling pretty relaxed and uninhibited. She made eyes at her good friend Brandon Lillard. Something about that suit suited him much more than the kilt he was always wearing. Although, she wouldn't mind seeing what was under that kilt! She chuckled to herself.
Later, when she bumped into Waylon Menon, she playfully tickled him, perhaps getting a little bit too touchy feeling.
The night got fuzzier the more champagne she drank. She remembered bumping into Sinjin when she went to refill her glass, but she wasn't sure what she said. Probably something silly.
